If you’re in the market for a rugged and capable SUV that doesn’t compromise on style and comfort, look no further than the Isuzu mu-X. Renowned for its off-road capabilities, the recent upgrades to the mu-X have transformed it into a bold luxury SUV that offers the best of both worlds.

What’s new?

We all know the Isuzu mu-X is a spacious 7-seater SUV and now Isuzu have added an additional model so you have more choice. There are now a total of five 3.0-litre mu-X models available – the 3.0 LS 4×2 and 4×4, the 3.0 LSE 4×2, with now the new addition of the LSE 4×4 option, and lastly the top of the range 3.0 Onyx 4×4.

Enhanced Performance

Under the hood, you’ll find a refined 3-litre turbo-diesel engine that delivers an impressive 140 kW/450 Nm punch, offering 70 newtons more torque than the previous model. This powerful 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine optimises fuel consumption without compromising on performance, thanks to its high-pressure common rail fuel injection system. All models come with an 80-litre fuel tank and achieve an average of approximately 7.6 litres per 100 km, depending on driving conditions.

The Isuzu mu-X range features a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard, with sequential sports mode that adapts to your driving style, speed, and load. This ensures a responsive and engaging driving experience. Both the LSE and Onyx models now have paddle shifters conveniently located behind the steering wheel, allowing you to manipulate the gears with your fingertips.

Enhanced Luxury & Safety

When you step inside the Isuzu mu-X you’ll be greeted by a luxurious leather interior which now comes standard across all models. The mu-X continues to have ample passenger space as well as climate control so everyone can ride in comfort. Soft cushioning throughout the vehicle and additional lumbar support provide maximum comfort, while the height-adjustable steering column and soft-touch leather steering wheel allow you to find the perfect driving position.

Opting for the LSE or Onyx specification grants you the convenience of remote start functionality. This allows you to warm up or cool down your vehicle before entering, adding a touch of convenience to your daily routine. The feature also aids in minimising wear and tear on the engine, as the fluids have time to circulate. Furthermore, the remote start feature can be useful if you are in an unsafe place and need to swiftly get into your car and drive away. The mu-X also offers keyless operation using the Passive Entry Start System (PESS), which includes walk-away automatic door locking on the LSE and Onyx models. With additional passive safety features like a factory-fitted anti-theft alarm system, a transponder immobiliser, and selectable door unlocking, the mu-X prioritises your security.

Standard safety features across the Isuzu mu-X range include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control, ABS brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist System (BAS), Brake Override Accelerator (BOA), Hill Start Assist (HAS), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Trailer Sway Control, and Cruise Control. The LS model now includes front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera, making manoeuvring in tight spaces effortless. The LSE and Onyx models take safety to the next level with features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear radar.

The Onyx model comes with the unique Isuzu Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that constantly monitors the surrounding environment, providing active alerts and passive safety features to keep you secure at all times. All mu-X models come with seven airbags providing peace of mind for you and your loved ones, and the top of the range Onyx model has eight airbags with a centre airbag between the driver and front passenger. Whether you’re driving on the street or venturing off-road, you can trust the mu-X to keep you and your passengers safe.

Enhanced Handling

Speaking of off-road adventures, the Isuzu mu-X is designed to conquer any terrain. With a ground clearance of 235mm and a wading depth of 800mm, this luxury SUV is ready to tackle even the most challenging trails. The 4×4 models in the range come equipped with a steel sump, transfer case guard, fold-away mirrors, and now upgraded tyres as the LS and LSE models now both sport 18” rims, while the Onyx’s 20” machined alloy rims have been redesigned. All 4×4 models have been upgraded to include a harness protector for the rear differential lock, providing greater protection against damage when you’re tackling challenging off-road terrain.

The mu-X’s exterior has been upgraded, incorporating dark magnetite finishes for the radiator grille, front and rear bumpers, fog lamp bezels, roof rails and side steps. The high-spec LSE and Onyx models come with a power tailgate with a step sensor integrated into the rear bumper, providing convenient hands-free access to the rear luggage compartment.
